East Fairmont (16-6) secured its fourth consecutive trip to the state tournament with a dominant 69-28 victory over Grafton in the Class AAA Region I co-finals. After a competitive first quarter that left the Bees leading 16-9, East Fairmont unleashed a devastating 24-0 run in the second quarter to enter halftime with a 40-9 cushion. Head coach James Beckman credited the win to his team’s "starving" desire to return to Charleston and their ability to turn intense full-court pressure into fast-break opportunities. Sophomore Audrey Singer was praised for her defensive energy and hustle on loose balls, while senior Ella Thompson provided a massive spark off the bench, scoring nine of her 12 points via a trio of second-quarter three-pointers.
The Bees' balanced offensive attack saw Thompson and Kailee Haymond lead the way with 12 points each, supported by 11-point performances from Emma Moore and Kasey Rogers. Grafton (13-10) was led by Kenna Keener, who finished with 10 points. Reflecting on a season marked by injuries, Coach Beckman noted that the team is finally healthy and playing its best basketball at the right time. As the No. 7 seed, East Fairmont will now travel to the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center to face No. 2 Spring Valley in the state quarterfinals on March 11.
