In the first game of a Saturday doubleheader in Granville, West Virginia, the WVU baseball team lost to Texas Tech 6-4, marking their first back-to-back losses of the season and ending their 14-game Big 12 winning streak. Texas Tech took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, which led to the ejection of WVU head coach Steve Sabins. Grant Hussey's solo home run in the third cut the deficit, but Texas Tech extended their lead to 6-1 with runs in the sixth and seventh, including a bases-clearing double. WVU rallied for three runs in the seventh, highlighted by Skylar King's two-run homer, and loaded the bases in the ninth, but couldn't complete the comeback. WVU's pitcher Griffin Kirn took his first loss. The second game of the doubleheader is scheduled for 5 p.m.
