Defending Class AAA state champion Ripley pulled off an incredible comeback at Jack Cook Field.
After falling behind 8-0 before recording an out, the Vikings stormed back to defeat Spring Valley, 12-10, in a wild state quarterfinal matchup.
Spring Valley exploded for eight runs in the top of the first inning, but Ripley immediately answered with five runs of its own before a weather delay interrupted the action. The Vikings continued chipping away, eventually tying the game before taking the lead for good with a four-run sixth inning.
WVU commit Bryson Casto was instrumental in the comeback, tossing five strong innings in relief while allowing just one run. Casto also scored four runs at the plate, while Peyton Keller led the offense with three hits.
The victory sends Ripley into the Class AAA semifinals, where the Vikings will continue their state title defense against top-seeded Bridgeport.
