Gilmer County is headed back to the state tournament.
The Titans broke through with a five-run sixth inning to defeat Man, 5-1, in the decisive game of the Class A Region IV co-final.
After stranding six runners through the first five innings, Gilmer County finally erupted late, sending ten batters to the plate in the sixth. Remington Huffman and Kolten Holbert delivered key hits as the Titans captured their second consecutive regional championship.
Freshman Roddick Page gave Gilmer County five strong innings on the mound before Huffman closed out the victory with two scoreless frames in relief.
Holbert finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs while the Titans advanced to the Class A state tournament for the second straight season.
Gilmer County joins East Hardy, Pendleton County, and Sherman in the Class A state tournament field.
