Jefferson stayed unbeaten in dramatic fashion Tuesday night, rallying in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Frankfort, 3-2, in a showdown between two of West Virginia’s top baseball programs.
Down to their final out and trailing 2-0, the Cougars scored three runs in their final three at-bats to complete the comeback. Jett Gross delivered the game-tying ground ball that led to two runs, and Teegan Moulton followed with the go-ahead ball in play as Jefferson walked it off in Shenandoah Junction.
Serf Guerra earned the win in relief with three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and no walks. Frankfort was led by Gunnar Bradshaw, who went 3-for-4 with both RBIs, while Lanson Orndorff struck out 13 and allowed just four hits in a tough-luck complete-game effort.
With the win, Jefferson improved to 8-0 and remained one of only two unbeaten teams in Class AAAA.
