In a dominant defensive showing, the defending Class A state champion Gilmer County Lady Titans swept their regular-season series against Parkersburg Catholic with a 47-18 road victory. The Lady Titans stifled the Crusaderettes from the jump, allowing only a single buzzer-beating basket in the first half to enter the locker room with a commanding 17-2 lead. While Parkersburg Catholic managed an 8-0 run to start the third quarter and trim the deficit to seven, Gilmer County quickly regained control, holding their opponents to just eight additional points for the remainder of the contest.
The victory was fueled by senior twins Blair and Ava Dobbins, who combined for 36 of the team's 47 points. Head coach Amy Chapman credited the win to "32 minutes of hard-nosed defense" and the team’s disciplined execution of the scouting report. Now sitting at 13-1 on the season, Gilmer County is allowing an average of just 25.6 points per game. As they look toward the postseason, the Lady Titans face a challenging February slate including matchups against Tucker County and Tolsia before heading into the Little Kanawha Conference Tournament.
