Fairmont Senior’s girls basketball team leaned on transition scoring and timely free throws to hold off a late Bridgeport rally in a 53–47 win Thursday night at the Fairmont Senior Fieldhouse. The Polar Bears thrived by forcing 22 turnovers through a mix of man-to-man, zone, and press defenses, turning rebounds and steals into fast-break points while converting 17 free throws. Kaelin Hamilton led Fairmont Senior with 19 points, and Sadie Kirkland added 10, as the Polar Bears built a second-half lead that Bridgeport repeatedly tried to close. Bridgeport, which forced 18 turnovers of its own and went 20-of-33 at the free-throw line, was paced by Reese Pierce and Haylee Pryor with 18 points apiece. Despite late baskets and a buzzer-beating three from Pryor, Fairmont Senior sealed the victory at the line down the stretch to withstand the Indians’ push.
