If there was ever a high school football title game that was “must see”, the Class AA WV State High School Football Championship Game is the one! The #1 seed in the Class AA bracket is Frankfort, and the Falcons won their first ever state football championship last year in this same game as they defeated Roane County 49-14. The Falcons are trying to go back-to-back and complete another undefeated season, which dating back to 2023, has Frankfort currently at 27-0! Their opponent in this Class AA title game is #2 Bluefield and the (11-2) Beavers from Mercer County are anything but strangers to a championship game! Coming into this title game, Bluefield has accumulated 70 playoff victories and are second only to Bridgeport for the most playoff victories in the state. And, when the Beavers get into a championship game, they are very competitive as they have been in the title game 19 times and have taken the big trophy home 12 of those 19 appearances! For these two very talented teams, while the coaches are great friends and respect each other immensely, Frankfort and Bluefield have met on the gridiron only one other time and that was last year in the playoffs when Frankfort prevailed over Bluefield 27-6 in the quarterfinals! This game promises to have everything….speed, hard hits and talent – and, I mean a lot of talent! It’s must see as #1 Frankfort (13-0) battles #2 Bluefield (11-2) for the Class AA WV State Football Championship!
