Chapmanville, despite their coach's initial concern about being "too relaxed," came out firing in the Class AA state championship game against Charleston Catholic, jumping to a 10-0 lead and never relinquishing it. The Tigers' strong start, fueled by early baskets from Zion Blevins, Devon Workman, and Sal Dean, set the tone for their 59-49 victory. Charleston Catholic, hampered by a last-minute injury to Gin Cinco and a slow start from Jayallen Turner, struggled to find their rhythm early. Chapmanville's Sal Dean had a big game, scoring 14 points, including two clutch three-pointers, and the Tigers shot an impressive 22-of-38 from the field. Blevins led the team with 19 points, while Brody Dalton added 16. Despite Turner's 26 points and Max Wilcox's 16, Charleston Catholic couldn't overcome Chapmanville's early lead and efficient offense. The Tigers' victory secured their third state championship since 2018, highlighting their consistent success.
