Amelia Knisely from West Virginia Watch talk about a topic that was brought to her attention by some of her readers....Mom's told they can't get WV Childcare assistance if they operate an LLC. The WV Department of Human Services told Amelia that the LLC can not be used as the sole form of income to receive the childcare assistance. One mom who had an LLC opened a hair salon had to dissolve her LLC so she could continue receiving childcare assistance because without it she could not run her business. Without the LLC, if someone should slip and fall her salon then the person would sue her personally and not her business if she had had the LLC. Amelia talked with a few of the people who serve in the WV Legislature and they were not familiar with that rule. Maybe during the next legislative term they will take it up and maybe change the rule.
