Frankfort enters 2026 with a 28-game winning streak, back-to-back Class AA state championships and an opportunity no other team in West Virginia has this season — a chance to three-peat.
The Falcons captured their second consecutive title in dramatic fashion when Braydn Tyler connected with Keiton Nestor for a 43-yard touchdown with just three seconds remaining to defeat Bluefield, 49-42.
Now, head coach Kevin Whiteman is making sure his team understands that the championships of 2024 and 2025 are in the past.
Frankfort returns several key contributors, including first team All-State standout Braydn Tyler. Tyler rushed for 1,302 yards and accounted for 30 touchdowns as a junior while contributing in all three phases of the game.
Senior Anthony Smith returns to anchor the offensive line after also recording 81 tackles and seven sacks defensively. Junior Cole Shanholtz is back after scoring three touchdowns in the state championship game, while Carson McBee and Austin Twigg compete for the starting quarterback job.
The Falcons are the only team in West Virginia with a chance to win a third consecutive state championship in 2026. Can Frankfort extend its 28-game winning streak and complete the three-peat?
