In 2024, the Sherman Tide football team, under head coach Kevin Buzzard, had a successful season, finishing 8-2 and securing their first playoff win in six years before being eliminated in the quarterfinals by the eventual state champions. Although the team graduated a large and talented senior class, particularly on the offensive and defensive lines, they return several key players. The lone returning starter on the line is senior Luke Elkins, who is now healthy after playing last season with an injury. The offense will be led by junior quarterback Elijah Pauley, who threw for over 1,200 yards and 15 touchdowns as a sophomore. He'll have his top two playmakers back: senior Trey Lester, a versatile wide receiver who led the team in both rushing and receiving yards, and senior Dawson Green, who was the leading tackler on defense and a physical running back who rushed for over 700 yards. Buzzard has led the Tide to the playoffs in three of his four seasons and believes the team has the potential to make a deep playoff run this year.
